See moreSelf-swabbing robot developed to automate COVID-19 testing. Patients place their nostrils onto the disposable nosepiece. When they are ready, they press a button at the chin level to activate the robot. The nosepiece moves to the back of the nasal cavity to swab while extending and rotating. Complete this whole process, it takes about 20 seconds. Regarding safety, it is programmed to withdraw the swab stick once it feels resistance on the way to the nasal cavity. Also, patients can move their heads away from the robot to withdraw the swab stick manually
