See moreRobot suits are being used at Narita Airport to assist employees handling baggages. This suit detects subtle electrical signals around the muscles, and identify the timing of movement in lifting and lowering the baggage, then assist the movement to lift up the upper body. In the airports, the average weight of each baggage is 5 to 30 kg, and its daily transportation can put employees at risk of severe back pain injuries. It requires a little practice to get used to the robot. However, the robot gives a good impression, like an employee in her 30's, who is in charge of transferring suitcases from containers to the conveyor belt, said that after wearing the robot suit: "I felt like I had a support in my back.” (March 2017)
