See moreA governmental forestry research institute in Japan tested SPOT in Hokkaido and Ibaraki Prefectures to validate the capability of the robot to support forest management and operations. People expected robots to alleviate the serious labor shortage, and free workers from high-risk activities such as harvesting and hauling. At the test, SPOT proved to run in rough and steep terrain carrying a heavy load of water, even though it sometimes stopped under the heat and sunshine. The trial has just started and will be continued along with improvements in satellite networks, and long-range Wi-Fi that supports the autonomous mobility of the robot. (Jun 2022)
