See moreFruit picking is a repetitive, physically demanding task, especially when fruits grow high off the ground. Addressing this, K2 Tech unveiled a fruit-picking robot at the World Robotics Expo. The demonstration of picking fake kiwis from trees attracted attention as its soft blue gripper at the front end of the robotic arm grabbed the kiwi and then swayed to "break" the fruit from the vine. Once the picked kiwi slipped down a hose into a small basket, the robot moved its arm to reach the next kiwi, sometimes even moving the ground vehicle. (Aug 2022)
