See moreThis autonomous robot equipped with a 3D scanner ran around the Hisaya-odori Park in Nagoya. The park management was suffering from abandoned bicycles, and was looking for solutions. In the experiment, it was proved that the robot’s laser sensor could identify bicycles from humans or other objects, even in the changing outdoor environment. If the robot finds an obstacle not there the last time it patrolled, it confirms the object was an abandoned within a certain period of time, and make alerts a remote monitoring PC. It was also the befit that the robot doesn’t use videos to monitor public spaces, that won’t compromise the privacy of visitors to the park. (March 2024)
